When searching for an internship or a job, always stay vigilant—whether when responding to a job ad or communicating with a recruiter. 👀
Some job postings may be scams, aiming to steal money or collect sensitive personal information (ID documents, social security numbers, banking details, etc.). ⚠️
🔍 How to recognize a fraudulent offer?
Some warning signs should immediately raise your suspicion:
- The offer seems too good to be true: very high salary with no experience required, total flexibility, multiple bonuses…
- The job posting contains many mistakes: poor spelling, awkward phrasing…
- The tone is unusual: too informal, too urgent, or unprofessional.
- The recruiter’s email address is suspicious: a serious company uses a professional email address (@company.com) instead of a generic one (@gmail.com, @outlook.com…).
💡 Also, pay attention to the recruiter’s behavior:
- They ask you for money (registration fees, training, equipment purchase…). It’s a scam!
- They request personal information (passport, bank details…) from the very first contact.
- They reach out at unusual hours or claim to be abroad to avoid an interview.
- They don’t have a LinkedIn profile or have an unreliable one.
- The company appears very new, with no official website or online presence.
🔒 How to Protect Yourself?
Before applying, take these precautions:
1️⃣ Verify the company and recruiter: look for reviews and check their official website.
2️⃣ Check the company’s legal registration: consult websites like the E-Justice to verify its registration.
3️⃣ Inspect the email address: ensure it matches the company’s official domain.
4️⃣ Never share sensitive data before an interview and contract signing.
5️⃣ Never pay to get a job or an internship!
❗ If in doubt, stop all communication immediately.
